Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival

The Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival presented by Citizens Bank has brought people from all over the world to Pittsburgh for jazz and community.   PIJF is committed to peace and unity, embracing our differences and connecting the notes that make us ONE.

Ten years ago, we held a street festival, hoping that people would come out and listen to this music we love. We introduced new artists, at the time, to Pittsburgh; Gregory Porter, Soulive, Robert Glasper, Buika, Jazzmeia Horn, and Pittsburgh showed love, and loyalty and support! We also gave an international platform for Pittsburgh-based artists to shine, and to be appreciated for their contribution to the jazz scene.

This year, we bring back some of the artists that have given amazing performances in past years, jazz icons like Dianne Reeves, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Chico Freeman, and some of the most exciting musicians on the scene right now like Nate Smith + Kinfolk, Jazzmeia Horn, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Gonzalo Rubalca, Aymee Noviola, Brett Williams, Sean Jones…the list goes on. My 10th anniversary gift to you is the luminous, the legendary, the 10-time Grammy Award winner, CHAKA KHAN live in concert at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center. Words can’t describe how excited we are to present this artist for our 10th anniversary celebration.

The August Wilson African American Cultural Center is home base for PIFJ; a state-of-the-art venue designed by award-winning architect Allison Williams. Along with free concerts in the streets, this beautiful venue will be brimming with phenomenal shows in our theater and smaller, intimate performance spaces, plus workshops and special events throughout the weekend.

Special thanks to Citizens Bank, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, UPMC and UPMC Health Plan, Advanced Auto Parts DownBeat Magazine, Entertainment Cruise Productions, JazzCorner, and so many other in kind and media sponsors. We are also grateful to our JazzFest Friends from around the country for their support.

Join us for PIJF; we will save a seat for you.
