Animus PARS489

Natasha Sarver of Animus, joins Bill for Episode 489 of the Pennsylvania Rock Show. Who is Animus you might ask? They are a newly formed act who just recently played their first show at the Sidebar, but it’s time that you learn about them and jump on the bandwagon! Segment 1 with Natasha Birthday wishes… Where did the name Animus come from? Tell me about your first show at the sidebar? Who is in the band and what “parts” do they have? If you’re future self called your right now, what would you ask her? (Thanks Lou Lombardi) What shows do you have coming up? If you could go back in time and follow any band around and learn from them, who would you follow? If you could sit on a bench and talk to any artist for an hour, who would you talk to and what would you ask? If you could open for any internationally touring artist, who would you want to open for and where would you want the tour to start? Where can my listeners find you online? Facebook Segment 2 with Animus If you were going to create a supergroup from the local scene for you to manage, who would you put in the band and why? Can you tell me about when you decided you wanted to become a singer? Is there something that people that have seen you perform would be surprised to learn about you? If you could erase an album from your memory and hear it again for the first time, which album would it be?

The classic combination of catchy melodies, crunchy guitars, and a hard-driving rhythm section are the foundation of the KGB sound. KGB released their first full-length CD, Rock and Roll Dream, in June 2014. “Rock and Roll Dream” draws on the band’s extensive catalog of originals and showcases the diversity of the band’s sound. KGB will bang your head, shake your ass, and have you singing along in your car (it’s OK, no one is watching)… “Rock and Roll Dream” is available at iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, and other digital music sites. KGB is led by Bill Vulgris. Bill writes the songs, sings lead vocals and plays guitar. Bill is a veteran of the local music scene and is well-known for fronting his previous band Gibraltar and his current work with Amber-Alexis. Cliff Rose is Bill’s long-time partner in crime. Cliff has been playing bass and singing backing vocals with Bill since the 80s. Cliff’s running bass lines and vocals are a signature part of the KGB sound. Drummer Gregg Shotts moved to the Pittsburgh area from Detroit a few years ago and was looking for a project to join. Bill was looking to create a new venue for his originals and the die was cast. Gregg’s high energy drumming drives the KGB rhythm section. Gregg also plays drums for 90 Amp Fuse. Guitarist Garry Simmons is the newest member of band but is no stranger to Bill and Cliff, having recorded two Gibraltar albums and the Amber-Alexis album. Garry’s hard rocking blues-based style nicely compliments Bill’s country/roots rock sound. Garry is the resident mad scientist in the recording studio. KGB gives back to the community, playing many Rock For Life benefit concerts that raise money for sick children in the area.
