The classic combination of catchy melodies, crunchy guitars, and a hard-driving rhythm section are the foundation of the KGB sound. KGB released their first full-length CD, Rock and Roll Dream, in June 2014. “Rock and Roll Dream” draws on the band’s extensive catalog of originals and showcases the diversity of the band’s sound. KGB will bang your head, shake your ass, and have you singing along in your car (it’s OK, no one is watching)… “Rock and Roll Dream” is available at iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, and other digital music sites. KGB is led by Bill Vulgris. Bill writes the songs, sings lead vocals and plays guitar. Bill is a veteran of the local music scene and is well-known for fronting his previous band Gibraltar and his current work with Amber-Alexis. Cliff Rose is Bill’s long-time partner in crime. Cliff has been playing bass and singing backing vocals with Bill since the 80s. Cliff’s running bass lines and vocals are a signature part of the KGB sound. Drummer Gregg Shotts moved to the Pittsburgh area from Detroit a few years ago and was looking for a project to join. Bill was looking to create a new venue for his originals and the die was cast. Gregg’s high energy drumming drives the KGB rhythm section. Gregg also plays drums for 90 Amp Fuse. Guitarist Garry Simmons is the newest member of band but is no stranger to Bill and Cliff, having recorded two Gibraltar albums and the Amber-Alexis album. Garry’s hard rocking blues-based style nicely compliments Bill’s country/roots rock sound. Garry is the resident mad scientist in the recording studio. KGB gives back to the community, playing many Rock For Life benefit concerts that raise money for sick children in the area.

Xander Demos Shreds!

broadcasted January 2012 Featuring: Xander Demos Xander made his debut on the Pennsylvania Rock Show on the January 2012 show. Running Time: 1:59:20 Xander’s Biography Xander Demos is a high-energy rock and metal guitar player from Pittsburgh, PA. He is fueled by the passion to create melodic songs ranging from rock and metal genres to pop and ambient. Xander normally is associated with the rock and metal world but his versatility allows him to be comfortable in many forms of music. Xander grew up in the decade of decadance and has been a big fan of everything from pop-metal, Top-40, thrash metal, progressive rock and even dance-related music. As long as there was a hook or a melody, he picked up on it. Xander’s main influences are Shawn Lane, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, Vinnie Moore, Guthrie Govan, Jason Becker, Neal Schon, Micheal Romeo and John Sykes. In the early days, he was fortunate to have some teachers whom he respected and had given him great tools by which to hone his fluid technique. Some of these players include Ralph Santolla (ex-Deicide, Obituary), Dallas Perkins (M.I. Instructor) and currently Derryl Gabel. Xander’s playing style ranges from the beautifully melodic to the jaw-dropping insane. His playing encompasses much of what he has learned and absorbed from other players over the years. His melodies are the kind you can hum along to. He is releasing the full-length follow-up to his EP “Road To Guitarcadia”, an instructional DVD, working with his three bands playing live every weekend and is now accepting guitar students for in-person and online lessons. 2011 had been a good year and Xander is currently building on that momentum for 2012. Make sure you check the news page as well as his Facebook page which gives constant news about his musical activities.

Tilt Room PARS294

broadcasted December 2011 Featuring: the Tilt Room Running Time: 00:49:00 The Tilt Room’s Biography Based in the steel city of Pittsburgh, PA is The Tilt Room, a three-piece acoustic act fronted by Mike Swindell and backed by Anthony Pandolph and Justin Hackett. The Tilt Room brings clever songwriting and intense composition to create a novel, intricate sound. Well known for their fun and engaging live performances, The Tilt Room has generated buzz around the mid-Atlantic. The Tilt Room is a respected act that brings an intensity not usually associated with acoustic groups. Confront Your World, released in 2011, showcased the unique songwriting of Swindell and co-founder Matt Dacierno. After Dacierno’s untimely death, Swindell sought to pay homage to Dacierno by keeping the music alive. With an expected release date of late 2015, The Tilt Room’s next album, Nostalgic Future, will feature the unique rhythm section of Pandolph and Hackett. Anthony Pandolph, who returned to Pittsburgh after playing in Austin, TX for several years, and Justin Hackett, who honed his chops in the Cincinnati music scene, bring a rhythm section that drives the songs and forces you to take notice of the group’s style. The writing in Nostalgic Future highlights a group of musicians with a unique ability to add their voice to the music while simultaneously complementing one another. The sound, at one moment capturing the beauty of Western Pennsylvania and at another moment reflecting the haunting and gritty past of this industrial city, captures life in a changing American landscape. The Tilt Room has toured the State of New York, including Brooklyn, Manhattan, Long Island, and parts of New Jersey, while regularly playing around Pittsburgh.
