The Crowning 3QS011

Three questions for Micah Martin – Episode 011 So The Crowning is based in Stroudsburg, PA and you’ll be making your debut in Pittsburgh soon. What can you tell us about that upcoming show? Recently, you put on your annual Five Acre Fest and Winter’s Descent from this end of the state participated. How do you decide on what bands to book for your festivals? Do you think cover bands and/or tribute bands are a positive or negative influence on a town or city’s music scene? – asked by Jimmy Feudale of Dragline on Episode 10 The Song: Will I Make It Home Will I Make it Home tells the story about a solider who has to leave his family behind to head off to war. It explores the emotions from the family’s perspective who are constantly on edge wondering if they’ll ever hear from him again, and his constant fear that he may never get home alive. About The Crowning Band Location: Stroudsburg, PA USA Band Genre: Rock Nobody understands momentum quite like The Crowning. After storming the scene in the Fall of 2017 with their debut EP, the Pennsylvania quartet has already begun to establish themselves as a regional powerhouse with their unique take on the altrock/grunge sound. In a very short period they have amassed thousands of streams, opened up for several major national touring acts, received continuous airplay on hundreds of indie and college radio stations, and have been featured in several major publications including the cover of The Aquarian Weekly. Dragline 3QS010

Three questions for Jimmy Feudale – Episode 010 I know that you used to use the tagline “Pure Rock Fury” for your band, and I feel like it is a pretty good description for your band. How would you describe your sound to people who haven’t heard you yet? Recently, I was flipping through my social studies teacher’s manual and found a photo that looked exactly like my college roommate. If I were to find a picture of a time traveling member of DRAGLINE, what historical event would the photo be with and why? What is it that you like and dislike about the Pittsburgh Music Scene and what are the advantages and disadvantages of being a part of it as opposed to a more musical city like Nashville, LA, or New York; what do you find special about opposed to any other music scene out there? – Asked by Doug Carnahan on Episode 009 The Song: She Put the Devil in Me The song is about Temptation and giving in to it. About DRAGLINE Band Location: Leechburg, PA USA Band Genre: Rock / Metal / Punk Rock DRAGLINE was born out of the fiery remains of what once was the Midnight Plowboys. The Plowboys had Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins style rockabilly riffs along with some southern rock influence. This has carried over into DRAGLINE’s sound, although now, there’s an edge that has been added to it, with some Motorhead influence and metal riffs being tossed around. The line-up consisted of: Jimmy-Lead guitar & vox, Mike-Bass guitar & backing vox, and Jay on drums. DRAGLINE is proud to play an all original set, yet has no problem dropping in some David Allen Coe, Johnny Cash, or yes, even Motorhead. Their sound is a basic power trio. Their style consists of “bar-room” rock ‘n’ roll, punk rock, metal, and even some rockabilly floating around in there somewhere. Their ideology is “just play, have a good time, and most importantly put on a good show” They do everything from benefits to bike nights. Whether it’s doing a backyard BBQ or playing at a local bar, the boys in DRAGLINE just wanna play. Grab yourself a cold beer and check them out…you won’t be disappointed! The Crowning

We starting things off making reference to Jack Black…I mean why not? Micah, of The Crowning,  gave us a look into how he became a musician by telling us about how he avoided rock music because his older brothers liked it. He told us about his music collection. Paula Abdul, Vanilla Ice…and a few other questionable albums haha. He cited Nirvana as a very influential band in his musical journey. He also talked about being influenced by Tool, K0rn, System of the Down, Disturbed, STP, Velvet Revolver, and more. Vertigo, no… not U2 but a stage moment that Micah had in his old band. Micah then goes on to tell us about his band mates and how they met, as well as, an odd story about a bass player that responded to his advertisement looking for band members. We talked about the way they’re releasing songs as singles instead of EPs or Albums and why. You really need to hear why, it makes sense to me and I never thought of it. We also took a moment to talk about a that The Crowning will be hosting in Stroudsburg on October 6th. We then talked about their new song “Hard to Find” which you will hear on the show. Don’t forget to join their mailing list, they’ll send you some physical “stuff” in the mail. Lastly we discussed how the band name came about. (Unless you talk about the conversation about roads and temperature). Don’t forget to check out the Band Blast this weekend in Memorial Park in New Kensington!
