Walking Backwards with Creep

The veteran rock band, Creep joined us on the show for their first time ever. Athough we’ve been playing their music since the beginning of time! We debuted a new segment on the show. I allowed Creep to name it. It is called Bill’s Barrage. it is based off of Mark Madden’s ask Mark Anything and Vogue magazine’s 73 questions video. 11 people submitted 22 questions for the band Creep. Some of them related to the band and some of them were off the wall. The band fielded them all like champs! You’ll have to listen to the podcast to hear their responses. We did a little story tellers, where they told us the background behind their songs Walking Backwards, Unreachable, and White Lies. We talked about their second place finish in the Grafitti Rock Challenge, inspirations, supporters, etc. We also talked about their annual benefit show A Concert for Anna, which is a great cause and affiliated with our friends in Rock for Life. Also, if you play your cards correctly, you can get a free digital copy of their album “Lesson 3” just by listening to the show! ps there is a space between the two words in the password Release Date: 11/7/14 Running Time: 01:10:51 Guest: Creep Where to Find Them: Facebook Where to Purchase download their Music: Creep is making their 2002 release Lesson 3 available to you right here! The classic combination of catchy melodies, crunchy guitars, and a hard-driving rhythm section are the foundation of the KGB sound. KGB released their first full-length CD, Rock and Roll Dream, in June 2014. “Rock and Roll Dream” draws on the band’s extensive catalog of originals and showcases the diversity of the band’s sound. KGB will bang your head, shake your ass, and have you singing along in your car (it’s OK, no one is watching)… “Rock and Roll Dream” is available at iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, and other digital music sites. KGB is led by Bill Vulgris. Bill writes the songs, sings lead vocals and plays guitar. Bill is a veteran of the local music scene and is well-known for fronting his previous band Gibraltar and his current work with Amber-Alexis. Cliff Rose is Bill’s long-time partner in crime. Cliff has been playing bass and singing backing vocals with Bill since the 80s. Cliff’s running bass lines and vocals are a signature part of the KGB sound. Drummer Gregg Shotts moved to the Pittsburgh area from Detroit a few years ago and was looking for a project to join. Bill was looking to create a new venue for his originals and the die was cast. Gregg’s high energy drumming drives the KGB rhythm section. Gregg also plays drums for 90 Amp Fuse. Guitarist Garry Simmons is the newest member of band but is no stranger to Bill and Cliff, having recorded two Gibraltar albums and the Amber-Alexis album. Garry’s hard rocking blues-based style nicely compliments Bill’s country/roots rock sound. Garry is the resident mad scientist in the recording studio. KGB gives back to the community, playing many Rock For Life benefit concerts that raise money for sick children in the area.

Shaffer and I am a musician based out of the Western PA region. I have been writing and recording music for roughly 15 years. I got my start as a young child listening to my mother sing and play guitar and sitting by the large console stereo listening to records with her. I then began to teach myself how to sing and became a vocalist in many a cappella groups such as the “Distinguished Gentlemen” and “Common Ground,” in which we performed across the Mid-Atlantic Region in such cities as Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Cleveland and placed 4th at the National Harmony Sweepstakes at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. We had the pleasure of sharing the stage with such legendary groups as “The Monkeys,” “The Marcells,” “The Tymes,” “The Vogues” and “The Contours.” As my career began to grow, i began to front a number of rock bands including (kaj) – pronounced “Cage,” in which I was a founding member. As the frontman for (kaj), we were featured in a National Rock Showcase in Louisville, KY and were a feature band at the “Heart of Texas Quadruple Bypass Music Festival” – AKA “The Texas Rockfest” in Austin, TX. Our music has been played on numerous radio stations and podcasts across the US as well as overseas, including XM and Sirus Satellite Radio, The Nationally Syndicated “Lex and Terry Morning Show,” The “Adam Curry (of MTV Fame) Podcast Rewind” and the “Armed Forces Network,” broadcasted to our brave men and women fighting for our freedom across the globe! Some of the songs that i wrote for the band (kaj) “Redeemer” and “Disposition”were selected by MTV Networks for use in such shows as “MTV Made,” “MTV Fat Camp,” “MTV Spring Break”and the new show “MTV Exiled.” I have had the pleasure of working with Tony Marinacci of “Total Music and Entertainment” as a vocalist on 2 of his tunes and the song “Can’t Take Another Day” was used for the Pittsburgh Penguins Highlights Show on FSN Pittsburgh. I am a single father of 2 beautiful boys and writing, recording and performing music keeps me happy and sharing that joy with my children is one of my biggest joys. Turning 40 on July 3, 2015 i fully believe it is time to take risks and take the chance to fully pursue my passion to the fullest!

Reminisce with Jim Platt PARS298

Jim Platt’s Biography Jim Platt is a self-taught musician who has been writing and performing for 15 years. Artists that influence him are The Beatles – in particular John Lennon. Jim Platt is proud to announce the release of three new singles “All Alone in My Dreams”, “Roll On By” and “Drama Queen” which are on his yet to be released CD titled “Moving Through The Ages” which is set for release in October 2012. “All Alone in My Dreams” are a Lennon-esc type song typical to his writing style. The story revolves around a little boy who died at 6 and went to heaven. This little boy never met neither his unborn sister nor his grandfather and when he met Jesus, he sent back. It is an experience that Jim was drawn to saying that understanding this little boy’s journey would help others dealing with death. It is a powerful and profound song with a grandeur melody enhanced by lyrical genius. It is written with much emotion and has such an impact with voice and acoustic guitar. These are the types of songs that live on forever. Songs such as “Roll on By” which is about Jim’s friend of his that was killed in a motorcycle accident. Then there’s “Drama Queen” which has more of an up-tempo adding in electric guitar. This arrangement also deserves notice as it display a diverse artist whose musical arrangements are reminiscent of one of our most prolific songwriters of all time, Mr. John Lennon who has had a major influence on Jim is writing style. Prior to the release of these singles, Jim released two demos; one with “Autumn Lane” called “Reflections”. The other was “Jim Platt- The Long Forgotten Road”. Three full length CD’s were also released “Led By Grace” (2007), “Tea For Two” (2008) and “Accepted” (2009). Jim Platt is looking forward to promoting his upcoming CD. He is also planning a trip to New York City as soon as possible. “I’m a songwriter/singer (as Noel Gallagher puts it). I feel my writing is more than my singing. I write what I believe and feel with a strong Lennon influence. All I look for is a chance to get myself heard. I love to hear from fans and their thoughts. Makes me a stronger musician, but I feel any of my songs can be put up there with music of today.” Jim’s own personal journey has had quite an impact on him. His music is raising eyebrows to others as he write about reality and it is this reaction that brings the most satisfaction and happiness in his life. On October 9th he will be playing Nathan Marshalls Ohio Valley Tonight Show in West Virginia est 1863.. to promote this CD.
