Has the transition from a trio to a duet caused any changes to how your originals are played? We were just off the heels of releasing and touring our previous EP when our guitarist needed to step back from the project. This song is all about grieving the good times and preparing for what’s about to come. It’s about trying to approach your pain positively and rebuild instead of wallowing in sadness over what you once had. What is The Crucible Project? Originally forming in 2016 under the “Homegrown Hard Rock Showcase” moniker, The Crucible Project has blossomed into an organization that hosts a recurring monthly concert series, currently based out of The Funhouse at Mr. Smalls, with a focus on Pittsburgh and surrounding area-based rock/metal artists. Along with our partners Twist of Fate Productions, The Metal Edge, and First Angel Media, our goal is to showcase some of the best talent in the rock and metal communities that Pittsburgh has to offer. With an “artist first” approach and attention to detail, we strive to deliver an experience to both artists and fans that is nothing short of memorable. Segment 3 with Cate of Suffacate at Gigaroo How would you describe playing on the Iselin Community Park stage? We discussed the storm, Doppler Affect, alcohol, and her puking out of the backseat of my car for a bit. We talked about what bands should have been playing the rest of the night, but a blown transformer had actually ended the show, unbeknownst to us. The power came back on at approximately 4am. Segment 4 with Chris & Erik of Shattered at Gigaroo I offered the wrestle Chris, who has wrestled for many wrestling companies, and he tells us about it. What does Shattered have coming up? Their projects fused progressive rock with funk and punk. Now in Pittsburgh, PA, they’ve added trip-hop, singer-songwriter, and folk styles to their repertoire. Alexis, born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, grew up playing cello and piano. As a teen, he switched to the more portable guitar and jammed in New York City, then Austin, Texas. Ginger began singing in church in a small Texas town at 7 years old. She studied voice in England, Dallas, and with the famed Marcy Lynne in Austin.

The Song: Mississippi Mud This song was written quite a few years ago when he first started playing slide guitar. He thought is sounded muddy, kinda like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Foreigner. Dave Molter joins Bill to chat about his newest release, Mid-Century Man, on episode 469. An accomplished veteran of the Pittsburgh, Midwest and East Coast music scenes since 1965, Dave counts The Beatles as his primary influence. Dave’s bands have released singles on Buddah Records (“I Hear You Knockin’” by BlueByrd, 1970) and Western World Records (“Boogie, Boogie, Boogie” by Pyewacket, 1973). His bands have opened for The Rascals; Chicago; The Allman Brothers Band; Bloodrock; Night Ranger and others. He continues to play with his own band, Retrograyed, and the Danny Gochnour Band as well as subbing with Bill Toms and Hard Rain. Three questions for Jimmy Feudale – Episode 010 I know that you used to use the tagline “Pure Rock Fury” for your band, and I feel like it is a pretty good description for your band. How would you describe your sound to people who haven’t heard you yet? Recently, I was flipping through my social studies teacher’s manual and found a photo that looked exactly like my college roommate. If I were to find a picture of a time traveling member of DRAGLINE, what historical event would the photo be with and why? What is it that you like and dislike about the Pittsburgh Music Scene and what are the advantages and disadvantages of being a part of it as opposed to a more musical city like Nashville, LA, or New York; what do you find special about opposed to any other music scene out there? – Asked by Doug Carnahan on Episode 009 The Song: She Put the Devil in Me The song is about Temptation and giving in to it. About DRAGLINE Band Location: Leechburg, PA USA Band Genre: Rock / Metal / Punk Rock DRAGLINE was born out of the fiery remains of what once was the Midnight Plowboys. The Plowboys had Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins style rockabilly riffs along with some southern rock influence. This has carried over into DRAGLINE’s sound, although now, there’s an edge that has been added to it, with some Motorhead influence and metal riffs being tossed around. The line-up consisted of: Jimmy-Lead guitar & vox, Mike-Bass guitar & backing vox, and Jay on drums. DRAGLINE is proud to play an all original set, yet has no problem dropping in some David Allen Coe, Johnny Cash, or yes, even Motorhead. Their sound is a basic power trio.
