Eric Gadola joined me for the first time to talk about his band the Red Room Effect. Segment 1: We started out talking about their upcoming show at the Grass Root’s Band Jam that 97.7FM and Shady Lady Productions put on each year. Eric went on to talk about a few other shows that they have played with Shady Lady. We talked about their song “Raindrops” being nominated for the Grassy Awards. We rounded out the first segment with Eric telling us about their song “Allergic to Negativity”. If you’re into 90’s rock, you’ll love this track. Segment 2: In the second segment, we got to know Eric a little better. We discussed his record collection to give you an idea of where he comes from musically. Along those same lines he talks about his biggest influences as well.  Eric and I then talk about the people that support Eric the most as a musician and his most embarrassing moment on stage. We also hit up some of the other normal questions for the show like favorite venue and some new ones like favorite cover song to play. Segment 3: We started the third segment out talking about Mia Z, Miss Freddye, and JJ Smith. Eric introduced us to the rest of the Red Room Effect band members: Anthony Lamendola (Guitar). Nick Svitek (Keys, Guitar, BGV, Aux), Matt Johnson (Bass), & John Layhew (Drums). At this point, we learned a good bit about the history of the band itself. Eric deescribed the process of recording their album “Funky-Hip Music, Vol. 1“. From there we discussed the music scene for a while… and more Who is Red Room Effect? Eric Gadola, also known by his stage name “Crazy Eric” formed the grassroots of Red Room Effect in the summer of 2013. Working as a golf pro by day and struggling singer/songwriter by night, Gadola approached producer/drummer, Paul Jay with songs he had been writing with hopes of forming a band. Impressed by his songwriting abilities, Paul Jay and Eric began to mold the the majority of songs that would later appear on the “Frame of Mind EP.” Hendrix, Clapton, Jack White, The Black Keys, the RHCP, Nirvana, Prince, Rick James, & Outcast have played a significant role in Gadola’s, songwriting, playing style, and vocal delivery. Stricken with sadness and loneliness from Paul Jay’s unexpected death, Gadola turned to talented Pittsburgh drummer, Spencer Day with the demos produced @ Paul Jay’s Red Room Studios, in Cheswick, PA. After hearing the demo, Day agreed to help Gadola jumpstart the band. Gadola crowned the band Red Room Effect in honor of the late Paul Jay. Mason Callender was added on bass guitar, as the group began gigging across Western PA. They later recorded the Frame of Mind EP with producer Ryan Wood (Audio Bridge Studios/New Medicine) which yielded favorable reviews and national radio airplay. In November 2014, Day expressed interest in pursuing other musical ventures. As a result, Gadola began producing and recording songs he composed in his home studio. While recording the majority of the instruments himself, Gadola sought out the talents of a few local skilled session musicians, including bassist, David “Funk Daddy” Traugh (of The Last Drop) & guitarist, Anthony “Tony Tone” Lamendola. (formerly of The Next Month) Gadola’s lust for the stage lights was short lived when Tony suggested revitalizing the group with a new lineup. Former Next Month bassist, Matt “Matural Ice Jr.” Johnson soon joined the band. Eric grew fond of local indie rockers Blithehound, and later recruited 2 of their members: muilti-instrumentalist Nick Svitek, and drummer Jon Walters who’s towering drum beats can be heard throughout the record. Jon recently left both groups to pursue a degree in Jazz from Berklee College of Music. The ultra-talented John “JayLay” Layhew was recently added to the lineup on drums. “It’s special how we have a built such a strong musical chemistry in such a short amount of time as everyone shares a mutual respect for one another. What a humbling experience this has been. I’m geeked that guys with this kind of talent want to be bring this project to life. Being on stage in front of crowd is what I live for, and I’m thankful for these guys. As for the music, what type of music you ask? This music will make you laugh, make you cry, make you think, make you feel. It’s blues, it’s funk, it’s hip hop, r&b, soul,… It’s rock n’roll. This band, this music, these songs…. will move you. It’s what we like to call Funky-Hip Music.”

John “The American Hilljack” Lane, front man and lead vocals of the Hellfire Club & John Alfred Lane IV join Bill in the Episode of “Will the Real John Lane Please Stand Up… please stand up… In this episode we learn about John Lane and his doppleganger from another Earth… errr son, Johnny and their musical journey. We learn about Johnny and his band Three Vultures. Bill asks him some of his staple questions (you also get to hear Bill sing part of The Three Little Pigs). The Real John Lane talks about his favorite venues, pay to play, embarrassing stage moments, learning guitar and the drums, and shoots on the scene a bit, too. Bill puts John on the spot and has him do an impromptu concert calendar for the show. He also tells us a story about lasagna… yes lasagna. Who are the Three Vultures? Three Vultures is the brain child of Dustin Cutright. For as long as he can remember, he has wanted to be a musician, one that changed the way people felt and listened to music, and one that also opened the minds of his listeners. David's Tilted Shadows…

David returned to the show to discuss what he and his band mates have been up to. He talked to Bill about upcoming shows, new venues that they have played at recently, the influence of Chris Cornell on his writing (as well as the other grunge stars). He also announced that they are hoping to release a second EP of 7 to 8 originals by the end of year. Speaking of EP’s you can purchase the Nothing Ventured EP in full or a la carte on their website. David also mentioned that Tilted Shadows is approaching 1000 likes on their Facebook Page and that the band is throwing around some give away ideas for that milestone. Soul Alliance

Jordan and Angus Elder, cousins, from the band Soul Alliance joined Bill on the show for the first time. We talked about the unique way in which we were introduced to each other (they were in a dodgeball tourney). We discussed their new single “Holes” and things like their favorite venues, best supporters, their writing process and more. Who is Soul Alliance? Soul Alliance is a hard rock/alternative band from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. The band consists of Jordan Elder on guitar/vocals, Gus Elder on bass, and Dakota Thomas on drums. since forming officially in 2015, the band has played live shows all over their local area, and released a 5 song EP titled “Critical Phases” and a single entitled “Holes.” Each one of their influences and backgrounds can be heard in every song.

Anthony Leone of Silk 9 makes his second visit to the show to talk about the band’s newest EP. He talks about the recording process, their listening party, and even allows us to debut the single, titled I Don’t Know! Who is Silk9? Silk9 is a Pittsburgh PA based hard rock band that was founded in April of 2013 by Anthony Leone and Jamie Rohr. The” vision” of Silk9 was to “embrace” the essence of the 90’s and add an original spin on today’s hard rock genre. In May of 2014 the band released its first EP entitled “Exit the Pain.” Songs from the EP have been featured on 97.7 fm located in Butler PA, Adrenaline 101 internet radio, 105.9 fm the X, in Pittsburgh PA., 102.5 WDVE in Pittsburgh PA, The PAROCKSHOW.COM, The EAgle 107.5 and recently featured on Lou Lombardi’s, Rock n’ Roll Circus. We strive to keep our standards high by working with some of the top local bands in the area and national acts such as Lynch Mob, Adelitas Way, The Art of Dying, Hillbilly Herald, Drowning Pool, Crobot,Skid Row and on most recently Jake E Lee’s Red Dragon’s Cartel Silk9 Awards Silk9’s first Ep was voted,2014 Iron City Rocks Album of the year, with an additional 5 nominations.

13 Saints join Bill for episode 378 of the Pennsylvania Rock Show. In segment 1, We talked about their beginnings and past bands, we talked about the shows that they’ve played in just over a year of existence. We also talked about the song Evel Kniviel Segment 2 started off with the band discussing their influences and we moved into talking about their biggest supporters or lack thereof. From there we moved on to discussing stories from the stage. We then transferred into talking a bit about the music scene itself including venues, pay to play, and more. At the end of the segment they tell us about the song Genius. We featured that song and Angry Itch’s song Heroes of Hate. Segment 3 opens with Bill asking Creep, Ernie, and Dave to tell him a bit more about the band that maybe nobody knows. They then talked about getting ready to record their second album and the recording process that they use. Bill asked them about the studio that they used to record Throwing Copper in Sharpsburg called Very Tight Recordings…. and more…. Who are 13 Saints? Lots of music and information for you in this episode. I took a moment to talk about the passing of Cliff from KGB. He was an integral part of our scene and he will be missed. I also did a segment that I titled A Wright of Passage. In this segment I featured songs from Step 11, (kaj), and skell. the link between these songs is that Walter Wright sang lead vocals on all of them. You can hear the progression of his vocals and see how he got to where he is now with what I consider to be the best metal band in the Pittsburgh area. Stephen King from Trigger Happy was rearing to go. Guest Co-host John Lane and Bill had to catch up with a late intro. Stephen jumped right into talk about the band’s writing process. The first topic that we covered was song titles. This question came up because of titles like “The Plumber Prevails” and “The Boy Who Lived”.  Stephen was answering Bill and John’s questions before they could even answer them. We talked about his influences. At the beginning of the second part of the interview you get a taste of the conversation that you usually don’t get to hear on the show. Stephen fed off of John pretty well and caused me to leave in some of the “off-air” conversation so that you could understand what was going on haha. You also get to hear us give some props to Utah and Bob of the Grass Roots Show on 97.7 FM. Stephen gives us his take on the Butler Music Scene, as well.
