Chip Dominick

Chip Dominick returns to the Pennsylvania Rock Show. What’s that you don’t know him? Maybe you’d recognize him from his other band’s name, Chip DiMonick. Chip has decided to go out and do the singer/songwriter thing. He isn’t giving up on the heavier genres that he was doing before. He talks about how he wanted the project to be scalable: intimate and stripped down solo act type thing, but he also wanted to be able to do it as a duo, 3 piece or even a full band. Chip will be opening for John Carabi (Former Motley Crue Singer). Also on that bill are the Dirty Charms, Brett Staggs, Doug Carnahan, and Eliza Furnace. This Sunday, March 19th at Cattivo. He talks about a new song called “A Man and His Mama”. In Segment 2, Chip talks about feeling confident that there will be another Chip DiMonick release at some point, but that he has almost 3 albums worth of songs ready as Chip Dominick. He tells us that his writing process is really based on how he is feeling at the time. If he’s in an angry mood, then he’ll end up with a metal song. Some of the topics that were discussed: What was the first local musician’s album that you ever owned? Are there any local bands that are no longer together that you would like to see do a reunion? If you were going to build a super band from local musicians, who would you put on each instrument? If there was one thing that you could change in the Western Pennsylvania Scene, what would it be? (Okay, Bill threw some in there, too) Where can people find you online? What are you upcoming shows? Where did your band name come from? Walking the Redlines PARS366

Brian has 2 very interesting things going on between his band The Redlines & his video series Backseat Guitar in the Car. We’ll start with the Backseat Guitar in the Car, Brian learns a band’s song and plays it along with members of the band acoustically in his car. It is a weekly show. He has 12 shows up currently from The Shiners to Donny Eozzo. Next we talked about The Redlines. Brian says the point of the band was for him not to get bored. He says that he wanted to play Rock n’ Roll and anything that Rock n’ Roll was built upon. Brian then gave us some insight into how the band was formed. The Redlines are looking for a drummer, should you be looking for a band. Brian also told us that they are currently working on a new album. We also discussed Utah, Shady Lady Studio, 97.7 FM, The Band Jam as well as Corbriwoodstock for a bit too. This led to us discussing when bands pull members of other bands on stage to play with them and/or cover other local bands (I LOVE BOTH OF THESE SCENARIOS). After the break, we talked about Brian’s vast cd collection to get an idea of what musicians had an effect on who he was as a band member. He also gave us a list of his influences. We talked about his opening up for the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies at Metropol and his favorite venues including the Big Red Barn, Peter B’s. He also mentioned Wooley Bully’s as one of his favorites. You’ll have to listen to find out what band Brian would like to open for, his favorite local bands, and more… Bill apologizes to Bob Cupp, Utah, and the Grass Roots Show for having to back out as a guest for their show. <h2″>Songs played: Doppler Affect – Down the Line The Redlines – County Line The Shiners – Every Once in a While

Pantera, Alice in Chains, & Skynyrd…oh MY

On this episode of the Pennsylvania Rock Show, Jake Parks from Terachain Sky joins us for the first time. We discussed their band name PanTERA-alice in CHAINs-lynyrd SKYnyrd. I spent some time letting him know just how awesome they are live. They played the Pennsylvania Rock Show 12 last month. That was the first time that I saw them live. It WON’T be the last. We spent some time learning about the band and how they have learned what it takes to keep people at the show. Their goal… to blow you away. We talked about their recording process and learned that they are currently working on a 3rd disc that they hope to release it in February of 2017. We also discussed Utah and the Grassroots Show. I also brought up the question that we discussed on the 2nd episode of the Podcast your Scene podcast, what are you feelings on pay to play. Along those lines, I got him to drop some names of some touring bands that they have opened for: Apocalypse Blues Revue & Charm City Devils. At the end of this podcast, John “The American Hilljack” Lane joined us in the call and you can hear that over at his website on Episode 9 of The American Hilljack Files. I try to never split my podcast episodes into 2 episodes, but this one just couldn’t be helped. John took over and shined so it gets to be part of his show. Coincidentally, it is my debut on the American Hilljack files. Shooting from the Hip

In this episode I was rambling on about the local scene. I played and talked about the Lollytrigger song that was written in my kitchen and played live on the show the very same night to get started. I also sent out a ton of thank yous to everyone that helped me pull off the Pennsylvania Rock Show 12 which benefited the Rock for Life Concert Series. I gave you some information on how to become the new drummer for the kings of metal in Pennsylvania, skell. I then followed that up with 2 tracks from our local scene, Skell – Two Minute Atomic Clock and (KAJ)- I deny. Coincidentally, my dek hockey goalie mask features the words “I Deny” on the chin cup. A bit of a homage to our local music scene. After coming back from the heavy music, I did an introduction to a new band in our arsenal, Soul Alliance. Thank you for listening to episode 356 of the Pennsylvania Rock Show.

A Stark Reality

Leeja Stark Band What do Panic at the Disco & Queen have in common? Leeja Stark. Leeja joins us this month for her first visit on the show. We discuss the local scene including bands like Amber Alexis, skell, The Bloody Seamen, & Dethelehem. She talks about the Women of Metal show that the band played with Beyond Eden, Mind Maze, & A Sound of thunder. Leeja spoke about their work with producer Ulrich Wild (Pantera, Otep, Stolen Babies, Emilie Autumn etc) on their latest EP and how they are currently working on writing a new LP with him. She speaks on how the band has handled song writing in the past and how it progressed over the years. Leeja admits not knowing who Alice Cooper was when being told that her band’s song Welcome to the Night and her theatrics that go along with it in the video reminded them of his song Welcome to My Nightmare. @skellmetal @TheBloodySeamen @dethlehem @beyondeden10 @MindMazeband @asotband @iAmUlrichWild Biography Leeja Stark is an American Experimental Rock band from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. The band finds influences in rock legends (David Bowie, Kate Bush, Annie Lennox, Freddie Mercury, King Crimson, Stevie Nicks, etc). Their sound has progressed from electronic rock to electronic progressive rock over the last 2 EP’s becoming more technical but remaining true to the lyrics and melody of each song. The goal of this band is to write great music. If it’s not about the music why play in a band? In early 2012, Leeja Stark released a concept EP called House of Eyes about a girl caught in the throes of the demon world. It begins with the song Supernatural in which an incantation to release the demon from the body is recited and ends with a chilling ballad Impossible Things that leaves the story to be continued as we find out she is with child. Also in 2012 they released a single, Symptoms of Insanity. The song is a duet featuring screamer Bret Stark. The video received almost 200,000 views in its first 24 hours on Youtube. In another song-writing collaboration, Leeja has co-written the song Charming Arms with producer/musician Christopher Lee Simmonds (Filter, Thought Industry, Good Charlotte, Marcy’s Playground). The message about the agony of drug abuse is written in Simmonds’ music as well as the lyrics. Charming Arms has been released in three forms; the original, a Dis-Honesty mix with an electronic dubstep sound, and the raw Honesty mix highlighting Leeja’s vocals. Most recently (2014-2015) LS has been working with producer Ulrich Wild (Pantera, Otep, Stolen Babies, Emilie Autumn etc) on their EP Cosmic Queen which was released April 9th 2015. https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/cosmic-queen-ep/id984380388 They also produced a vaudeville-esque music video for the song Welcome to the Night. On the horizon for the band is a 3rd EP, as well as numerous shows throughout the north east for the remainder of 2015. www.leejastark.com www.facebook.com/leejastark www.reverbnation.com/leejastark www.youtube.com/leejastark https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/house-of-eyes-ep/id771371921 Give us some Feedback: Subscribe, Review, & Rate us on iTunes Subscribe, Review, & Rate us on MixCloud E-mail: feedback@buildthescene.com Call Us: 724-568-7018 Join Our Mailing List Submit Your Own Music: Submission Form Book your Band: Booking Form Get our App: iPhone
