Christmas Time in the Thriving Metropolis

It’s December! Time for some Christmas Music Pennsylvania Rock Show style. We opened the show up with the Stevie J. Band’s Classic Metal Yuletide song, Slay Ride and followed it up with Doppler Affect’s folk song, Santa’s Hog. Bill then has a long chat with Jerry Mulligan and Paul Lucas of Winter’s Descent. We pull out our normal information getting the band to tell us about the origin of the band name, their writing process, favorite venues, and more along our normal realm. We also get the guys to tell us what their favorite Christmas song is, because.. hey Tis the Season. After the long chat where you get to learn about this Metal/Alternative Rock band, we played some more unsigned Christmas music for you from Amber Alexis, Rockabilly Junction, Eddy Mann, and the Richard Lynch band. Shooting from the Hip

In this episode I was rambling on about the local scene. I played and talked about the Lollytrigger song that was written in my kitchen and played live on the show the very same night to get started. I also sent out a ton of thank yous to everyone that helped me pull off the Pennsylvania Rock Show 12 which benefited the Rock for Life Concert Series. I gave you some information on how to become the new drummer for the kings of metal in Pennsylvania, skell. I then followed that up with 2 tracks from our local scene, Skell – Two Minute Atomic Clock and (KAJ)- I deny. Coincidentally, my dek hockey goalie mask features the words “I Deny” on the chin cup. A bit of a homage to our local music scene. After coming back from the heavy music, I did an introduction to a new band in our arsenal, Soul Alliance. Thank you for listening to episode 356 of the Pennsylvania Rock Show.

Every once in a while, you’ll hear Bill Domiano interject a few comments. This was supposed to be an episode of the Pennsylvania Rock Show, but much like the beginning of that show… this had a mind of its own.

Did You Know: the PA Rock Show Anniversary Show Beginnings

the Pennsylvania Rock Show Anniversary Show 12: The Pennsylvania Rock Show began on September 14, 2004. On September 29, 2012 we had our first anniversary concert. The concert was a benefit show for one of Bill’s students who is in need of a liver transplant. All money that was made that day was directly donated to her. Starting in 2013, the anniversary shows began donating all money that comes through the door to Rock for Life, Inc. It is the mission of Rock for Life to provide financial support to needy individuals residing in Western PA who are suffering from life threatening diseases. Rock for Life sponsors music festivals and other music-related and general fundraising events to raise the monies necessary to support its purpose. Recipient(s) of support will be determined annually, utilizing selection criteria guidelines as adopted by the Directors. Financial support may be provided to a needy individual or a non-profit organization that supports the mission of Rock for Life. Please join us on November 12, 2016 at the Leechburg Moose to help us celebrate 12+ years of the Pennsylvania Rock Show and AK Music Scene. Listen to the Anniversary Show Radio Sweeper

Find a Band: After the Fall PARS352

Back in the mid to late 90’s I was starting to get involved with the local music scene with bands like ZMW, Hybrid, Sundog, & (kaj). I had been designing websites for some of the bands and just starting to get my feet wet as a fan of the scene. Tim Henry of Hybrid was the reason that I started designing band websites and local business websites. Those 2 things lead to my coming into contact with both Chris Hawthorne of Indie Band Radio and Tony Marinacci of Total Music & Entertainment. Without my touching base with those 2 people there wouldn’t be a Pennsylvania Rock Show. Chris gave me an outlet to start to play the best unsigned rock that Pennsylvania had to offer. Tony taught me how to run a mixer, without that skill, I would never had been able to do the live show on a weekly basis. Something else came out of this scenario and that’s what I’m here to tell you about now. Steve Craven and Matt Ferrante, also of Hybrid are the Godfather’s of Rock for Life and really the leaders of our local music scene. I’ve kinda attached myself to them and followed their lead throughout the years and without them, who knows if AK Music Scene and the Pennsylvania Rock Show would have made it. Now on to the Find a band part of this podcast. You can find After the fall on Facebook, Reverbnation, & Twitter. You can also find their other 2 bands online here: Slant 6 & A Common Crown

Dave Waugaman Tribute

I found out that Dave Waugaman passed away yesterday. Many of you probably either haven’t heard of Dave or haven’t heard of him recently. Dave was a founding member and guitarist of the band Doppler Affect. Dave and his band Doppler Affect were there for my wife and I during a very trying time in our lives. I can’t express into words what he and the boys mean to us, so I’m doing what I do best and podcasting about it. We’d like to send our condolences to his wife Cindy and the rest of their family. Please join those of us at the Pennsylvania Rock Show and AK Music Scene in remembering a great man. Eddy Mann, From Philadelphia, With Love

September 14, 2016 marks the 12th anniversary of the Pennsylvania Rock Show! To find out more about our show check out our anniversary page. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for information on our 12 year anniversary show on November 12th at the Leechburg Moose. This Month, Eddy Mann joins us to tell us about his upcoming projects, his writing process (which is much different than we’ve heard before), about his music and more. Lou Downard & Ozz PA join us later in the show to get the word out about the benefit show Band Blast at memorial park on Sunday September 11. Eddy Mann’s a… musician, songwriter, worship leader, teacher, speaker, coach, husband, and father… whether you know him as one or more of these people, you know his heart; you know his love for life. Though his past has been playful and colorful at times, it also has been constant in its vision. It’s always been a vision of hope, peace and understanding through the eyes of a loving heart. Eddy’s led worship for over fifteen years. As a musician and songwriter it was twenty years ago that he made the decision to offer his creative gifts to God. Since then he’s released seven CD’s and written countless songs for the church and world at large. On any weekend you can find him in a coffeehouse, in concert, at a conference, and/or leading worship. His greatest earthly joy is his family… his wife Susan, daughters Ashley and Maddy, beagle Molly, g-kids Joey, Layla and Lexi and his sponsored children Emerita and Adjoint. A new album, The Consequence, the follow up to 2014’s Dig Love, is currently wrapping up sessions at this writing. It once again touches on the theme of a peaceful and loving existence, while delving into the the consequences of our actions. Musically it continues down the path that Dig Love charted staying close to the americana, roots rock, and singer-songwriter traditions. Look for a fall 2016 release date.
