Brandon Stoner of Thieves & Lovers joined Bill on Episode 420 to talk about the band and its recent releases. Segment 1: Where did the band name come from? Why make the move from LA to Pittsburgh? Can you compare the LA, Central PA, and Pittsburgh scenes for us? Favorite venue in Pittsburgh? Tell us about 3 bands from our scene that you like and why? Tell me about the song Always Winter… Segment 2: What would I hear if I played your music backwards? Tell me about the moment that you realized you wanted to be in a band. They have been building up a steady following through the release of a few well-received EPs and a consistent show schedule. Their new single “Always Winter” was just released ahead of the new record The World is Sleeping, due out in May.

This episode is a continuation of episode 416. saVenger joined Bill on the show from their studio and played some live songs for us. In this episode you will get to hear their song “Yinz and Crick”. Also on this episode, Lady Jaye of the new podcast from Build the Scene, Audio Gossip & the website First Angel Media, came in and talked with the band as well. We talked about the oddity of a Motley Crue concert, as well as the last Kill the Drama show at Gigaroo 2017, the upcoming Gigaroo 2018 lineup which includes saVenger.

saVenger joined Bill for episode 416 of the Pennsylvania Rock Show, live to tape, from their practice studio. They played some of their originals live for us! (This was the first time they played for anyone but themselves with this lineup!) They also taught me what a Portmanteau is, when I asked them where their name came from. Do you know what that is? We talked a little bit about their show at Gigaroo on July 7, 2018. It was at this point that they debuted their song, “Lemonade Grenade”. When we returned from their debut they told us the story behind the song and we discussed their first show which will be opening for Mona Lisa Smile on June 9 at JB’s Roadhouse in Deer Lakes, PA. The members of saVenger give us a little bit of a history lesson on the forming of the band and the Pittsburgh experience for the transplanted members (Who moves here from Florida?). Bill finally transitions into a host for a bit and asks them about which of their songs they’d want to survive a fire that destroys the rest of their catalog.  This was an early segue into their next live performance of their song, “Slashtronaut”. Johnny Horton came up again on the show, who knew this was going to happen a bunch of times… There’s more to come from saVenger in episode 418 so stick around!
