My dad is a fan of Jay Leno’s Garage, is his garage really like that? I really enjoyed reading about the interactions that you had with the band members. I didn’t expect there to be so much of a back and forth between them and the crews. How often did that happen? I ask this question of bands all the time, and it seems fitting since you talked about how the crew and band didn’t want to hear the band played on off days, what kind of music did the bands listen to when they weren’t on stage? There’s a story where you played the same song 10 times on the jukebox… How many times have you seen “This is Spinal Tap” on the bus? What was the oddest rider item that you were aware of? …What happened in Rio? Why don’t you mention all the bands that you worked with as a roadie? You did some work in the film industry, do you want to touch on that? What was the hardest thing about being on tour? What was your favorite city to go to and why? Shattered – Blackout Sessions – Erik Rhodes

In segment 1: Erik Rhodes, from Shattered, joined to discuss many things in the world of Shattered including their up and coming Album, Blackout Sessions. We discussed the band the Art of Burning Bridges and a former band of some of the members, Fountain Infinity. We debut the song Love/Hate/Obsession on the show. We talk a bit about the song and how it is a “Shattered” version of a love song.  We talked about a show 10 and a half years ago 2/23/2007 when Shattered played live in my living room. We have 2 live tracks from that night in our archives. Erik talked about the recording process that they used for the Blackout Session album. He told us that they had already started writing this album before the last album, Rise of Hypocrisy was released, and that they had started recording the album in October 2014. He told us about some upcoming shows that the band and his acoustic project have coming up. Shattered is opening tomorrow, September 30, 2017 for Lacuna Coil at Diesel. Erik gave us some incite into his influences through telling us about his music collection. In segment 2: Erik told us about the acoustic track, Silhouette, off of the upcoming release, too. We talked a bit about country music!?!?!? We moved on to get Erik’s opinion on pay to play. We talked about what is good about our music scene and even something that Erik believes needs fixed about the scene. We talked about the quality of the musicians in the scene and the Rock for Life Concert Series, as well. I brought up the band Creep, who will be writing new music for the first time in years, you can get a digital copy of their last album by listening for a code in Episode 325 of the Pennsylvania Rock Show. We then discussed the different influences that may have affected the sound of the Blackout Sessions album. I then had Erik tell us his favorite song off of the new disc, his overall favorite Shattered Song, & his favorite cover to play. Erik brought up the band Deadman’s Hand that I’m trying to book, now.

The Crowning

We starting things off making reference to Jack Black…I mean why not? Micah, of The Crowning,  gave us a look into how he became a musician by telling us about how he avoided rock music because his older brothers liked it. He told us about his music collection. Paula Abdul, Vanilla Ice…and a few other questionable albums haha. He cited Nirvana as a very influential band in his musical journey. He also talked about being influenced by Tool, K0rn, System of the Down, Disturbed, STP, Velvet Revolver, and more. Vertigo, no… not U2 but a stage moment that Micah had in his old band. Micah then goes on to tell us about his band mates and how they met, as well as, an odd story about a bass player that responded to his advertisement looking for band members. We talked about the way they’re releasing songs as singles instead of EPs or Albums and why. You really need to hear why, it makes sense to me and I never thought of it. We also took a moment to talk about a that The Crowning will be hosting in Stroudsburg on October 6th. We then talked about their new song “Hard to Find” which you will hear on the show.
