Joel Miller – Memoir of a Roadie PARS544

Joel Miller author of Memoir of a Roadie, joins Bill on episode 544 of the Pennsylvania Rock Show to talk about his experiences as a Roadie and his newly released book. [Bill’s Review of the Book] Featuring Music from: Corners of Sanctuary, Illusions of Grandeur, & The Nied’s Hotel Band How quickly did the chapter titles come to you? My dad is a fan of Jay Leno’s Garage, is his garage really like that? I really enjoyed reading about the interactions that you had with the band members. I didn’t expect there to be so much of a back and forth between them and the crews. How often did that happen? I ask this question of bands all the time, and it seems fitting since you talked about how the crew and band didn’t want to hear the band played on off days, what kind of music did the bands listen to when they weren’t on stage? There’s a story where you played the same song 10 times on the jukebox… How many times have you seen “This is Spinal Tap” on the bus? What was the oddest rider item that you were aware of? …What happened in Rio? Why don’t you mention all the bands that you worked with as a roadie? You did some work in the film industry, do you want to touch on that? What was the hardest thing about being on tour? What was your favorite city to go to and why? Were there any moments out on the road where you were thinking I can’t believe I’m here and this is happening? You mentioned you were an art dealer now… Where did writing come from? Where would you prefer the listeners pick up a copy of the book? Amazon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kp6-dWbzGxg

Chrystyna Marie 3QS046

Chrystyna Marie Tackles 3 Questions What do you think the difference is between the music scene in Toronto and Pittsburgh? If there was a catastrophic event and most of the human race is wiped off the face of the earth, which one of your songs would survive and help repopulate the earth? What was your inspiration behind your most recent album? asked by Scarlet on Episode 45. BONUS  24:42 Can you tell us about the moment that you knew that you had to be an artist. About Chrystyna Marie Genre: Blues/Pop/Rock Band Location: Pittsburgh, PA Where to find them: Originally hailing from Toronto, Canada, Chrystyna Marie spills her soul, with a mix of grungy blues and a hint of pop. About the Song, Loaded Gun Basically the song is about an ex “fiance” who was a drummer…he lied to me about having kicked his Coke habit cause I’m not about that life. I found he was hiding it and a functioning addict like he couldn’t live a good day without bumps in the bathroom every now and then. He got “depressed” and lost after being on tour all summer. We moved to the woods in a house we fixed up between tour dates. He threatened to use his gun one day. And i was like oh hell nah. One day he went to the store which was 40min away from the house and asked me to come I said I’ll stay behind and clean the house. I pretty much have myself 30-40min to pack whatever i could into my car and peace the F out without a word. Ninja bounced. I had to be strategic on not being seen driving through town to get back to los Angeles . We lived in Washington state. I called my bff and said can I come stay and she’s like the doors open.
