American Jive – Royal Honey 3QS039

3 Questions for Bobby C & Eric of Royal Honey You guys recently got to play a few shows (pandemic effected their schedule), how did that feel? If they were to make a Rockumentary about Royal Honey, who would play each of you in the film? Ofilia, of the Band Areshenic from Episode 38, would like to know why are there no females in your band? About the Song, American Jive: American Jive was one of Royal Honey’s first original tunes and has been in their live set since the start of the band. It was written by Dave Musick and recorded by Jazz Byers for the Rattle Clack Compilation 2020. It was also included as a bonus track on Royal Honey’s first CD “Hype, Money And Misbehavior” which is available from their website, Bandcamp, and all major streaming outlets. In a year full of turmoil and disease, American Jive somewhat prophetically asks the audience “Are you glad to be alive?” About the Royal Honey: Where to find them: Location: Pittsburgh, PA, USA Genre: Swagg-n-Roll People ask all the time where the name Royal Honey comes from? Drummer Angelo Amantea says with his swaggitude “I just made it up…It’s what I do! I’ve been naming bands for years!” That’s not all they’ve been doing for years. Royal Honey brings together some of the best talent and experience in the rust belt region. The band has only been together since 2018, but its members go way back in the local steel city scene, having played renowned clubs like The Decade, Graffiti, The Electric Banana, 31st Street Pub, and Someplace Else regularly. They’ve also all played up and down the major east coast cities, prior to forming Royal Honey. These guys have been around the block a bunch of times. Coming from previous bands including The Dirty Charms, The Ultimatics, The Cheats, The Addicts, Lize, The Science Fiction Idols, The Cosmosonics, Child of Fire, Kill Bossa, Rainstation Zero and Gas Tiger, they’ve got the experience and pedigree to write great catchy songs and put on killer energetic shows! Guitarist Eric Rodger says “We’ve accomplished so much in just a short year and half, because we’re all contributing and pulling the same direction. Dave brings most of the song ideas, and we lay down the tracks with efficiency in the studio. Ang does almost all the artwork and flyers and books most of the shows. Greg’s in radio, so he’s our PR man, getting us press and interviews. I handle the studio mixing and merch, and making sure that everything we produce is top grade. And Bobby commands every crowd we play to like the master of ceremonies that he is! Because of this camaraderie, Royal Honey has released one CD and is already mixing the next one, just signed a recording contract with The Vault Records, and has played to hundreds of fans in major cities like NYC, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh.” Royal Honey’s sound has been described as part New York Dolls, part Guns N Roses. Their influences are abound, including The Stones, AC/DC, NY Dolls, Guns N Roses, Kix, The Cult and Faster Pussycat, with some Thin Lizzy guitars thrown in for good measure. And topped off with steel city grit and attitude.

Dethlehem PARS525

Brutalitus and Bovice of Dethlehem join episode 525 after embarking on their newest tale, Maelstrom of the Emerald Dragon. Dethlehem Segment 1 Famously, KISS put out and ad looking for a guitarist, worded “Lead guitarist wanted, with flash and ability. Album out shortly. No time wasters please.” Last week, KHULT HEADWIND, became a LVL2 and joined the warriors of Dethlehem. My question is, what does an ad looking for a new warrior look like? I mean, I have some gauntlets and an amulet, would that get me in the door? Normally I ask questions like, if your band was in a cartoon series, which series would it be and which character would be you; or if they made a rockumentary about Dethlehem, who would play you. What I want to know from you, is if you were from this realm, what would your day jobs be? If I were to go on a quest with you, what bands would provide the soundtrack in between battles? I also usually ask bands which songs of their’s would survive an apocalyptic event; however, for you I would like to know what that tale would be titled and how many tracks it would take for you to complete the quest? or more specifically how do you come up with the storyline for an album like Maelstrom of the Emerald Dragon? Does Overlord Brom keep that helmet on for the whole show? What is the reddish orange glow coming out of his helmet? When you guys are preparing for battle, what does your pre-show look like? How do you decide who you’re going to ally with on a night? Segment 2 with Brutalitus and Bovice Can you tell me about an embarrassing moment that you had during a quest? If you were given the quest to take over the world’s stages, which 2 unsigned bands would you ally with to accomplish that quest? Having just watched your release, I have to know… what is your best guess on how many hours went into getting Maelstrom of the Emerald Dragon finished… starting with writing the first thought down and ending with the Facebook Live. Can you quickly share your social media links, where your music can be bought, and anything you might have scheduled for the future? (A Dethlehem movie?!?!) What is the story about the wound on your face? (Brutalitus) Last question, step into your alter egos for a moment, and tell me something that you fans would be surprised to know about each of you, please. Xbox or Playstation? The legend of DETHLEHEM began in the realm of GHORUSALEM many eons ago. During their journey, the warriors of DETHLEHEM have traveled through time and space to do battle against dragons, wizards, warlocks, leviathans, shape-shifters, and a sh*t ton of other things that needed to be SLAIN (for XP, duh). https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfensvypjd4Cmkkcb1VsNDEmtE9CJugsxhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbjKAHuL7Hw

What is your current favorite whiskey? – asked by Jeff Yeckel If you could follow any band around for a year to learn from them, which band would you follow? If 10 years from now, kids are flipping through their social studies books and they find a you in the book, why is Keith Hawkins in the book? What would your dream gig be? The Impersonators 3QS037

Tommi Tikka, of the Impersonators, takes his turn at 3 Questions and a Song If you could go back in time and follow a band around for a full year to learn from, who would it be and why? If you were able to go out and headline a tour, what bands would you want to open for you? Bonus Question: What album would you want to hear again for the very first time? Who exactly are you impersonating, and I kinda want to the know the story behind the Sad Cafe EP- asked by Matt Matigan of Psithurism in episode 036 About the Song, Cloud Nine “(It) started taking shape after a therapy session, during which I was made to reflect on what my role has been in pretty much each and every one of my relationships. Although it was hard to admit at first, I soon came to realize that I’ve always been the so called “designated driver,” the one who abstains from getting what he wants so those around him can be content.” He continues, “Unaware of my soul search, Antti sent me a beautiful poem about a couple growing old together. I remember reading it and laughing out loud, thinking I wouldn’t be able to write anything in that vein…and yet, the lyrics for the chorus were missing! A few days went by before I returned to the poem but as soon as I did, it hit me. Whether right or wrong, why not just write about what comes most naturally to me: trying to assure the happiness of the people I love. Before I knew it I had the words of the chorus figured out.” About the Impersonators Where to find them: Location: Finland Genre: Indie Rock Comprising Tom Tikka and lyricist Antti Autio, The Impersonators are just that: a duo which masquerades as a full band and does everything it can to defy convention – whether that being their insistence on avoiding touring or their songs, which home in on the warts-and-all gnarliness of love and real life. In fact, if one were to find a common theme that runs through the group’s entire catalog, it would probably be how life very seldom resembles or turns out like Disney fantasies. Despite their poignant lyrics, The Impersonators are still a joyous and sweet proposition, with their vocal harmonies and chiming chords harking back to such 60s pop majesties as The Beatles, The Byrds and The Beach Boys. Together with their secret weapon, producer Janne Saksa, The Impersonators craft their lyrics and melodies into retro-flavoured “alternative pop/rock”. While adding a modern twist to the final soundscape, their goal is to nurture and cultivate the creativity, spirit, and warmth that graced the pop records of yesteryears.
